University Guidance Counselling at CI
University Counselling is one of the most time consuming work in the entire DP year 2.It is as much important as completing your assignents on time. Most students in DP-1 prefer leaving their university selection for DP year 2, and it is very true that most of these gradually end up deciding for taking a gap year if they want to apply abroad.Indian colleges on the other hand have very trouble-free procedure for registrations, but cracking their examination simultaneously achieving high grades in IB is another back breaking task.
Most of the students who enroll for DP intend to pursue their undergraduates from a foreign university. Getting admission into a well reputed college abroad will make you work day and night, and I am sure no one wants to attend a non-well reputed college after doing IB. This is the point where my school stepped in for helping me in getting a good university, the university I deserve. The University guidance counselor of our school kept reminding us of the deadlines of college applications. She always made sure that we are introduced to agencies which assist students for foreign applications, and of the requirements of SAT, ACT, TOEFL along with the IB scores. She had arranged visits of several universities to our school, and even made it possible for conducting SAT classes in school itself, after school hours. Our parents are made to get involved in the procedure and are updated regularly. While deciding for a foreign university; university applications, meeting deadlines, geographical location, and the local life are significant but the most appealing factor is scholarships. Every possible care is taken to make students qualify for scholarships eligibility, and look for universities which offer scholarships.
Our acceptance depends on how we apply to various Universities. Applications include transcripts, LORs, Resume and the most important part ‘Statement of Purpose’. Initially, everyone hesitates in what to write in SOP because your SOP will leave your first impres- sion on the university, but I went through it really smoothly because I was very well guided throughout writing my SOP by the member of UGC team in school with the responsibility for the same, where she helped me in what all to include and which tone should I use.
I was very well guided by the UGC team of Choithram International, this is proven by successful completion of most of my applications to the colleges by mid November.
I wish all IB students get similar help in their journey through the process!!!!
