Swapping of Fate
The Shakespearean film festival is a festival in which different schools across the globe are given an opportunity to make a 10 minute movie on the basis of a Shakespearean drama while improvising the plot, to pay homage to the bard on his 400th death anniversary. They could give their own twists to the plot. Schools all around the world needed to collaborate with each other for this festival.
Our school also got a chance to be a part of this grand online festival. We the students of MYP 3 saw this as an opportunity to develop our creative skills by adding our own twist into the plot. To say that we were excited for this is an understatement . This was the first time we were given the chance to showcase our talent and skills globally.
We as students of CI believe in planning beforehand and staying organized. In order to do so we started off with a brainstorming session in which ideas were shared. We then came up with a brief idea of what exactly we want the audience to see. Then our script writers came into action. After all this process we came up with a script on which we could act upon. New characters were added to the play ‘As You Like It’ and it was re titled as ‘Swapping Of Fate’.Finally after hundreds of changes to the script we started rehearsing. Characters were chosen for the play and though not everyone was given an acting role but everyone had put in equal effort into the making of the movie whether it was behind or in front of the camera.
While shooting there were times of laughter, frustration, confusion and times of ecstasy. It took the crew good three days to shoot the scenes. Editing took more time than that but in the end the product has come out very well and our movie ‘Swapping of Fate’ has moved to second round of competition. The film festival was an extraordinary experience. All the students have learned something out of it and we are sure that the students who took part in the movie making process will cherish the experience for years to come.
