Academic Honesty
The IB learners endeavor to be “principled” where they perform with integrity and honesty following a strong sense of justice and fairness respecting the dignity and rights of people throughout the world. The IB learners take responsibility of their own actions and their consequences.
Choithram International upholds the principles of academic honesty and promotes the students’ personal integrity and good practices in all teaching, learning and assessments through a set of values and skills. The school ensures that there is no lack of academic integrity that undermines the philosophy of the school’s educational programme. The school confirms that the students are clear about the owners of the intellectual property available on the internet; they honestly cite the resources and do not engage themselves in any act of academic misconduct or miss their learning opportunities and to establish the credibility and authority of their own knowledge and ideas.
The school follows MLA style of citation where the students are expected to acknowledge all source materials or ideas which are not their own and have been used in any way such as a quotation, paraphrase, or summary. Written or electronic source materials may include Visuals or Audio, Graphic, Maps or Broadcasts, Lectures or Interviews and the students know the consequences of being in breach of IB regulations. The school ensures that the students act in a responsible and ethical manner throughout their participation in the Diploma Programme.
Choithram International follows an Academic Honesty policy along with the calendars for assignments properly planned. There are regular sessions with the faculty members, students and parents and legal guardians to update and verify that all parties have a clear understanding of IB expectations regarding the Academic Honesty policy. The students and teachers are also provided with effective training opportunities to ensure that the students adhere to the school’s policies.
The mo ve is to ensure that the academic honesty should be viewed posively by students and they become a natural part of their academic study as this is not a study skill that is confined to just the completion of the IB Diploma Programme.
