Heath Ledger-The Joker
A teenage heartthrob? Check. An idol for millions? Check. An inspiration for another billion? Check. A wallpaper for thousands of desktops and walls? Check. A fictional character described as a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy only came to life when he was played by the legendary Heath Ledger. The Joker, a fictitious character created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson for pure showbiz in the American comic book Batman published by DC Comics, turned into a somebody when Ledger agreed to take up this role in the movie ‘The Dark Knight’, which till date remains one of the best played role in negative. Ledger consumed the character of the joker to give something much more than just a fiber of a movie. Ledger has made us believe that no matter what role you are playing, if it reaches perfection, even the villain is loved more than the hero. “It does not matter what role you play, rather how you play it.” Till date, ‘The Dark knight’, a movie featuring Batman is re-watched by millions only for The Joker. Even after his death, he is remembered for the one role which probably took his life. Heath was suffering from insomnia after playing the role of the joker for ‘The Dark Knight’, “ Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” Ledger told The Times. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted and my mind was still going.” So engrossed and absorbed by a character, Heath was completely drained. Heath Ledger, deceased at an early age due to a drug overdose, has left a legacy behind.
